Post 537 Squadron
The Sons of the American Legion ( SAL ) are male descendants, adopted sons, and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during World War I, and December 7, 1941 to date or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion.
The mission of the SAL is to support veterans and their families and the policies of our parent organization, The American Legion. Virtually everything that involves the SAL could be grouped under three areas: 1) support for veterans and their families, 2) promoting patriotism and Americanism and 3) promoting programs which benefit the youth of our country.

Chicken BBQ & BB Gun Shoot
In each June the SONs host a Chicken BBQ in conjunction with a BB Gun shooting competition. The event is Open to the Public and the proceeds support Veterans’ Charities. We cook over 120 meals and usually sell out by noon.
The BB Gun Shoot has two divisions one for youth who compete for trophies and one for adults. The adults compete for Meat Trays.
Unserviceable Flag Ceremony
Post 537 collects worn and tattered US Flags and once a year retires them in accordance in Resolution No. 440, passed by the 19th National Convention of The American Legion in New York, Sept. 20-23, 1937.
